T.S. ELIOT''s "Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats" Part II

Cats led the way to be heard to most of the students with great joy! Forms of Art were connected and enjoyed! The music videos we watched on you tube, by the musical "Cats", were great and showed how Art can really trasform all things into greatness! Οι γουργουρίτσες είναι ασπρόμαυρα ντυμένες οι γουργουρίτσες (καθώς είπα) είναι μικρές σαν τύχει να ναι βραδιές συννεφιασμένες στο χωλ ασκούνται σε φιγούρες και στροφές. Μα πάντα , μέρα που έχει ζέστη και λιακάδα, άνεργη ολη χουζουρεύει η ομάδα, οι γουργουρίτσες τις δυνάμεις τους φυλάνε στη γουργουρονυχτιά φρέσκες να πάνε.

Το Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats εκδόθηκε το 1939 και αποτελείται από ποιήματα σχετικά με γάτες, τα οποία ο T.S. Eliot έγραφε και έστελνε στα βαφτιστήρια του. Έγινε κλασικό παγκοσμίως και το 1982 ενέπνευσε το λιμπρέτο για το μιούζικαλ Cats του Andrew Lloyd Webber. Την ίδια χρονιά, ευτύχησε να εικονογραφηθεί εξαιρετικά από τον Edward Gorey. Ευτύχησε επίσης στην ελληνική μεταφορά του:  το Εγχειρίδιο πρακτικής γατικής του γέρο-Πόσουμ κυκλοφόρησε το 2000 από τις εκδόσεις «Άγρα», μεταφρασμένο εξαιρετικά από την Παυλίνα Παμπούδη και τον Γιάννη Ζέρβα (η ελληνικά έκδοση περιλαμβάνει και την εικονογράφηση του Gorey).  Το βάφτισμα των γάτων Το να βαφτίζεις τα γατιά έχει μιά δυσκολία…. Flying away with 5th graders and 6th graders!

We listened to this amazing music and flew with a seagull, using our imagination, over beautiful seas and clear blue waters, sandy beaches and green forests! We sensed wonderful aromas and felt comforted! We threw away ever negative thought and feeling and kept the positive feelings and experiences! It was a fascinating journey!

E1-Recording of "Imagine"

Μιλώντας για την ανάγκη του να σεβόμαστε ο ένας τον άλλον και του να μοιραζόμαστε τον κόσμο που ζούμε, τραγουδήσαμε το "Imagine" του John Lennon. Η ηχογράφηση έγινε στην αίθουσα της μουσικής με τη βοήθεια του εκπαιδευτικού μουσικής,κο Νίκο Ρούσσο, ο οποίος παίζει πιάνο και τον οποίο ευχαριστούμε πάρα πολύ. Δεν υπήρξε επιλογή φωνών από την πλευρά των μαθητών καθώς σκοπός της ηχογράφησης ήταν το να ενθαρρυνθούν οι μαθητές να χρησιμοποιούν την Αγγλική γλώσσα με δημιουργικό τρόπο και να μιλούν για τα θέματα που εγείρει το συγκεκριμένο τραγούδι. Έτσι λοιπόν, θα θέλαμε την επιείκειά σας αν μουσικά μιλώντας το αποτέλεσμα δεν είναι "τέλειο"! Ο εκπαιδευτικός της πληροφορικής , κος Μανώλης Αργυρός, μας βοήθησε επίσης πολύ καθοδηγώντας τους μαθητές στο να φτιάξουν τα μουσικά τους βίντεο και τον ευχαριστούμε πολύ!

E1 and E2 students write the date on the board and in their notebooks , enthusiastically,  in many different languages: Swedish, Turkish, German, Hawaiian, Chinese, Indian ..and many more! They look up information in their dictionaries, on google translate, everywhere! And they're having fun , learning...
